History & Mission:
Central Texas Iron Works was established in 1910 on Webster Street in Waco, Texas. Originally a foundry, the company began fabricating steel in the early 1930's primarily for the commercial market. Acquiring plants in Abilene and Midland, Texas, Central Texas Iron Works was incorporated in 1953 and with a fourth plant, West Waco, which was built in 1958, became a strong competitor in the state.
In 1960, CTIW ventured into the industrial market, furnishing structural steel for various projects domestically in the United States and exporting from the Port of Houston.
The Herrick Corporation, a large fabricator in California, acquired CTIW in 1983. The old plants were sold and in 1990 the West Waco plant was tripled in size, concentrating all fabrication at one modern, state-of-the-art facility.
CTIW's customer list reads like a "Who's Who" in construction, with most of the top EPC companies in the world listing CTIW as a prime supplier of structural steel for process plants, pulp and paper mills, power plants and other industrial projects.
